Pacific Northwest Node Participation on CTN Committees

Our node is actively involved in a number of CTN committees and workgroups, participating in conference calls, e-mail discussions, and face-to-face meetings.

Pacific Northwest Node members participate in all three national coordinating committees:

  • The Research Utilization Committee is composed of CTN members and one member from the CCTN who possess an expertise and interest in research dissemination. The main responsibilities of the RUC are to facilitate sharing of cost effective dissemination strategies among Nodes, Blending Teams, or Federal and State partners; assist Nodes in developing internal dissemination projects and developing partnerships for internal dissemination; and promote dissemination research using CTN as a platform. (Node participant: Elizabeth Wells, PhD)
  • The Research Development Committee is composed of Principal Investigators, CTP representatives, and the CCTN Director. The main responsibilities of the RDC are to jointly work with NIDA to ensure a strategic research agenda for the CTN, formulate research questions that capture the unique scientific opportunities and address critical public health needs, prioritize research projects and establishes protocol project teams for EC and SC consideration and approval, and actively promote the use of CTN as a research and training platform. (Node participant: Dennis Donovan, PhD)

  • The Publications Committee is composed of members elected by the Executive Committee. The main responsibilities of the PC are to identify and promote publication opportunities, identify meetings of professional societies in which the CTN can showcase research results, and ensure the publication of timely and quality CTN results. In addition to the committee individuals possessing the interest, expertise and willingness/commitment to review publication materials will be designated by Node PIs to serve on a reviewer pool that will include representatives from the CCTN and the SC.
